Self Catering Accommodation in Eskdale (Sleeps 8)
Converted in the 1990’s form an old granite barn, Rowan Bank self-catering offers the perfect getaway.
Rowan Bank offers group accommodation, sleeping up to 8 people. Inside you will find the cosy cottage has been converted to a high standard keeping some of its original features such as the old beams, it is traditionally decorated and captures the feel of true country living and is dog friendly.
The house is set in two acres of land with a large garden and seated courtyard area.
It occupies a stunning location in Boot, part of the picturesque valley of Eskdale which nestles in the heart of the English Lake District.
With views of the Western Fells, Rowan Bank looks down the valley towards the West Coast, capturing the sun throughout the day and into the evening.
Rowan Bank is surrounded by the Lake Districts most impressive mountain ranges and is a great base if you are planning to do some walking during your stay. It is a great starting point for Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England.
The Hallway entrance to Rowan Bank provides a utility and storage area to for any boots & outdoor clothing, there is a washing machine and also a handy shower room to the rear of the utility area.
The accommodation consists of two double rooms and two twin rooms making this an ideal base for a group of friends on a walking holiday. There is a large dining area which flows into the oak kitchen which is fully equipped with all you need to cater during your stay and is complete with a large gas range and a dishwasher.
There is ample seating for eight in the cosy sitting room to the rear of the dining area and also the master double room with en-suite bathroom complete with Jacuzzi bath.
The stairs lead to a galleried landing area which carries on with the characterful exposed beams. On the landing there is an additional seating area which is an ideal place to relax. There are two twin bedded rooms & a double room all with their own washbasin & and a shared bathroom.
From the downstairs dining area there are patio doors leading onto a courtyard with outdoor seating, perfect for those summer barbecues. There is also a large garden and lawn area and use of a shed, perfect to house the bikes, and this is where you will find use of a charcoal BBQ.
There is also ample space for parking several cars and there is certainly plenty of room for the children to run around and explore.

Our adult mountain bikes are great entry level bikes manufactured by Cube suitable for riding on the bridleways around & about, a great way to explore the valley.

There is a great trail ‘The Eskdale Trail’ which takes you the 8 miles to the coast at Ravenglass, you can then ride back after refreshments in one of the cafes or pubs or get the miniature steam train ‘The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway’ back (prior booking necessary).
Call in at the ‘Muncaster Castle’ on route and catch one of the Wild Bird displays, have a glance round the grounds or the Castle itself & watch them feed the dozens of wild Herons.

Your own bikes are most welcome but if you do bring them with you, please make sure you bring means of securing them when not in use, as we have very limited storage for any additional bikes in our shed.
